What is Rejoice

How did Weaverham Rejoice Start?

We had been thinking about introducing something new for a couple of years but were not quite sure what format it should take, in the end we decided to base it on the Rejoice service at Barnton which I had been to a number of times. We approached David James who leads the Barnton Rejoice and he gave us his blessings to do something similar in style, we also used some ideas from the Holy Spirit day we held in the summer of 2008.

What is the format of Weaverham Rejoice?

Musically we wanted an outlet to introduce people to more modern worship music but keeping a few old favourites as well (lots of people liked our slightly different version of 'Be thou my vision' played in 4/4 time). Pictures of the songwriters are displayed along with the bible passages the songs were linked to.

We wanted some variety so what better than Bob & Lindsay’s drama sketches and the occasional testimony.

Each service will have a different theme and a different speaker and hopefully plenty of 'guest contributions'.

Prayers were also slightly different, being visual or interactive.

The main aim though is to Praise and Worship God and be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit which we hope we can achieve

How has Rejoice been received?

Rejoice has been well attended so far with 226 people coming to the first five services and the feedback we have had has been excellent.

In future we hope to introduce and develop more creativity and fresh ideas.
